You have come so far... You've got so far to go...

I started this humble blog nearly 3-years-ago. Motivated by a love of nail art, a love for Lupe Fiasco and boredom, it has become a nice little online diary...

In an effort to reflect, I was looking back on my old posts and I noticed that I have really come far in my art. I have gone from it just being a hobby that I wasn't very good at to being a sought after licensed manicurist...

I took a break in December but I just started back up doing regular nail appointments this week. Check my work from this past Monday:

She had to go home and put on her rings before she posted a pic on her instagram. Shout out to Mai. She was my very first non-friend or family client!

I have come really far since I started this blog. My art has really improved... But I have so far to go... I'm trying to be like Spif...

Anyway, as always... I will try to post more often but we all know I make that promise often and never actually do it... We'll see though. I've done a lot of nails lately so we'll see... Not that it matters. It's only me reading this.. Lol...

In the meantime and in between time...

Stay classy.

Peace. And much lacquer to you.

I love the Dough... More than you know...

This pink, unassuming food truck holds the key to happiness...

So on May 12th, I went to a Booger Kids event with little sister #2 in San Jose... I did this to my nails as a tribute to one of my favorite Bay Area Streetwear brands:

I love this damn brand!

After we stood in a ridiculously long ass line in the equally ridiculous hot ass San Jose heat, we decided to make our way to the Dough Truck, which is also owned and operated by the Booger Kids camp... Why is it called the Dough Truck, you ask? Well... Check the menu:
Yep, you read it right. The burgers come on a bun comprised of two glaze donuts!

Now little sis number two and I had heard of these kinds of burgers before from the show The Boondocks but we thought this was all just a myth. A hilarious myth. So when we saw that this was actually being done, we were wary at first... I mean... What kind of obese ridiculousness is it to eat a donut burger?! But, after witnessing countless other people consuming them to their satisfaction, we let our inner Drizzy out and gave it a whirl:

YOLO!

I had the gobble gobble with animal tots while she opted for the wild west with the loaded tots... Check it:

The box it comes in... Look at the grease! Mmmmm...

Look at the amazingness that awaits when you open the box!

Close up on the animal tots...

Close up on the deliciousness that is the gobble gobble...

Holy moly, these burgers are DELICIOUS! I was afraid it would be gross or weird but it was neither of those. I went IN on that burger! I totally forgot to take a picture of my nails while eating it... I haven't made it out there to get another one yet but when I do, I will make sure my nails are fly so I can send a pic of my good ass burger and my fly ass nails to my favorite tumblr, burgers and nails...

If ever you are in San Jose, I suggest you check them out... Me and Mark Zuckerberg can't be wrong!
Mark Zuckerberg knows what's up!
Stay classy...

Peace... And much lacquer to you.

Pride: Part Too

So, months and months ago I posted part 1 of my SF Pride story and said I would be back to post the second half after attending the event. Well this is what I ended up doing that day instead of actually going to Pride:

Yeah, my foot was out of commission. I had to lay in bed all day with it elevated... It was all bad... But I wore my rainbow tie-dye socks in order to support from home...

In other rainbow news...

My sister (little sis #2) turned 19 in May (which was actually before Pride, but I digress) so I decided to throw her a small, intimate surprise party... It was an up, up and away balloon theme and the color scheme was rainbow! Here is a little of what I did:

Rainbow balloon wreath...

Rainbow beverages (including brown and white for the lush's who were in attendance. Lol)...

Rainbow fruit kabobs. These went like hotcakes!

Mini rainbow cakes. Everyone loved these! They were pretty good if I do say so myself. My niece helped me with the sprinkles, hence, the mess...

And these are her birthday nails, complete with Swarovski crystals:

She picked this design even though she had no idea about her party or the theme. I know my sister well...

She definitely enjoyed herself and was super surprised about it all. We had a great time...

My birthday is coming up in November and my party will be themed after The Big Lebowski. I cannot wait!

Stay classy...

Peace... And much lacquer to you.

Pride: Part Won...

In the Bay Area, Pride is just as natural as the Thanksgiving Day Parade is to NYC...

Every year since 1970, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and heterosexual people have been getting together and celebrating who they are. I've been a couple of times but this year will be the first time I am going with a large group of people and I am soooooo excited about it...

And of course I am doing nails for the occasion. First up is little sister #2. These are the colors she picked:

I saw a tutorial on dripping nails on youtube that she really liked so I kinda recreated it.

It's different from the tutorial in that her drips were almost perfectly painted. I wanted mine to look more messy...

Drippin' Swagu! It reminds me of the crayon melting craft that I have yet to try but will be trying very soon with my niece and nephew...

Next up are my nails! I am heterosexual but I am all about peace and love. I have sorority sisters and friends who identify as lesbian and gay and I ♥ them! So I decided to rep for the NO H8 campaign on my nails. This is what I used:

And this is how it turned out:
My nails are all different lengths because they keep breaking and it's REALLY annoying... But I still love it! I really love the glitter rainbows on my thumbs!!!

And there you have it... Part WON of my Pride post... I have a few more nails to paint and then we are going to the parade tomorrow!

I will try my best to take pics but my camera phone really sucks and I drowned my digital camera trying to sneak a Dr. Pepper from Burger King into the movies... Grrrr!!! My sisters both have iphones though so I'll make sure they take pics I can post...

Hooray for Pride!
Stay classy.

Peace... And much lacquer to you.

Thug Life... THUG LIFE!

While the rich kids is driving Benz
I'm still trying to hold on to surviving friends...
Tupac Amaru Shakur
June 16, 1971 - September 13, 1996

Without going into too much detail, I just want to make it clear that I love rap music and I love 2Pac. May he rest in peace... Today would've been his 41st birthday, so in honor of my favorite Gemini, I decided to pay homage to him on my nails...

My camera does no justice to the Swarovski crystals

Africa on one thumb, a pistol on the other
His Thug Life tattoo is pretty much his most famous tattoo so what better phrase to use than that one?

I really love how it turned out. I am going to see Ab-Soul tomorrow and had planned on doing something different with my nails for that show but I am completely in love with this Thug Life design. I may just keep it until Pink Wednesday...
Happy Birthday, Pac...

Stay classy.

Peace... And much lacquer to you.

Ikat nails

I tried Ikat nails a few weeks ago. This was take one:

I thought it looked ok but I just did not like that blue on the other nails so I changed those nails. Take two:

As you can see, there are a few smudges and my cuticles are a mess but whatever... I live in the Bay... No one cares about that here...

I don't see myself doing this on my nails ever again. It was easy and quick, but it's too boring for my taste... I like my nails to be outrageously busy...

Tomorrow is Tupac's birthday so I am considering a Thug Life design for my nails. I originally wanted to get my long sought after Thug Life tattoo on his birthday but my tattoo artist is MIA and not returning emails so Thug Life on the nails just might have to do... Oh, it's also my Sigmaversary tomorrow but I dont really care about that... I mean... I do... But I am not about to be walking around in blue and gold all day and I damn sure am not putting it on my nails...

In the meantime and in between time; here's a little 2Pac to listen to...

RIP PAC

Stay Classy.

Peace... And much lacquer to you.

Transit Thursday...

Everyday I take BART to work.

The traffic in the Bay Area is definitely a nightmare so even though the train can be crowded at times, it's a lot less stressful than sitting through rush hour gridlock.

Most people who are not Bay Area natives are familiar with BART because of this...

Rest in Peace Oscar

But today I want to focus on the transportation... NOT the BART police.

I took these pictures today on my ride home...

And then I recreated some of the aspects of the train and the train station on my nails...
Grrrr... The words on my pinky smeared when I applied the top coat...

This is what I used:
Good Nails Gone BAD franken-Beats for the Streets
Sally Hansen-Wet Cement
Sinful-Snow Me White
Sinful-Pull Over
Migi Nail Art Pens
Stay classy.

Peace... And much lacquer to you.
